• Forgiving Go Min-hwahn’s Transgressions
  • One day in 1927, Tae-mo-nim said to Go Min-hwahn, “Today, I will perform a work of renewal for the spirit of perfect communion.
  • Think of everything good and bad you have done since childhood and then tell Me.”
  • “I have not done anything particularly good or bad,” Min-hwahn replied.
  • Tae-mo-nim said, gravely, “How can someone in this world have done nothing good or bad?
  • Even Sahng-jeh-nim, who is in the highest position, told Me everything He had done since childhood, holding nothing back, and asked to be forgiven for each of His misdeeds.
  • Think hard and speak.”
  • Min-hwahn still hesitated, unable to say anything. Tae-mo-nim removed the coral pin from his topknot and said, “Do you not remember these incidents?”
  • When he saw the pin, he was reminded of Sahn-ohk and Sun-ohk, two women he had lured into extramarital affairs. Because of these incidents, he had been summoned to the police station for questioning.
  • He also had an affair with a woman named Choon-ja, who was separated from her husband due to an unhappy marriage. Min-hwahn seduced her and even had her officially registered as his concubine.
  • 10 Tae-mo-nim brought up every instance of Min-hwahn’s promiscuity. “To be forgiven, confess all your misdeeds to Me. There is nowhere else to receive forgiveness.”
