- A Teaching on Attitude Toward Gae-byuk
- 1 While conducting the work of renewing heaven and earth, Sahng-jeh-nim would often say to the disciples,
- 2 “Having assumed authority over the three realms, I redirect the course of the Early Heaven and will open the Later Heaven’s world of immortality.
- 3 Cultivate your mind and meet the coming magnificent world.”
- 4 The disciples wanted such a world to come as soon as possible.
- 5 One day in 1905, Shin Wun-il ardently pleaded, “Teacher, a long time has passed since You said, ‘I am renewing heaven and earth to build a new world.’ Though You have conducted many works of renewal, the world remains unchanged. Doubt is growing among Your followers.
- 6 Teacher, please overturn this world as soon as possible and build a world of immortality so that we will no longer be ridiculed by others. Please give us the glory for which we anxiously wait.”
- 7 “There are opportunities for human action,” Sahng-jeh-nim said. “There is a program for each heavenly principle. The work of renewal is based on creating the opportunity and establishing the program.
- 8 If I were to abandon this method and perform the work forcibly, it would bring disaster upon the world and kill multitudes. That is not My intention.”
- 9 Not listening, Wun-il remained obstinate. “Right now, the world is chaotic and immoral. The distinction between good and evil is clouded. It would be right to destroy the present world quickly and start a new destiny.” Sahng-jeh-nim was deeply disturbed by this.
