- Gohng-ooh Requests an Auspicious Grave Site
- 1 While traveling with Gohng-ooh, Sahng-jeh-nim pointed to a mountain and said, “That is an auspicious site for a grave.”
- 2 “Please, let me have it,” Gohng-ooh pleaded, but Sahng-jeh-nim remained silent.
- 3 While passing by the mountain on several other occasions, Sahng-jeh-nim praised the mountain, exclaiming, “That is indeed an auspicious site for a grave!”
- 4 Gohng-ooh pleaded for the site again. “Please grant me that site so that my descendants will live in prosperity.” But Sahng-jeh-nim would not give His consent.
- The Funeral Custom of the Later Heaven
- 5 A few days later, Sahng-jeh-nim said, “You can have that site. Your parents’ graves will be moved there. I will see to everything. All you have to do is carefully prepare food and rice wine and then wait.”
- 6 Ecstatic, Gohng-ooh made the preparations and waited.
- 7 On the planned day, Sahng-jeh-nim came and said, “Today, we will change the burial site. Bring the food and wine.”
- 8 Sahng-jeh-nim had some food and rice wine, and let Gohng-ooh and the others eat and drink their fill. Then, Sahng-jeh-nim said, “The change of burial sites has been done well.”
- 9 He told Gohng-ooh to look at the sky. Gohng-ooh saw a streak of concentrated qi stretching from north to south and becoming invisible over the burial site.
- 10 Gohng-ooh felt that something was lacking. “Is this the funeral custom of the coming world of immortality?”
- 11 “In My world, people will conduct funeral ceremonies without burying bones,” Sahng-jeh-nim replied. “If I say so, a spirit will guard an auspicious site, and the descendants will enjoy prosperity.”
