- The Mind Is the Pathway of the Spirits
- 1 Gohng-ooh asked Sahng-jeh-nim, “If a spirit responds to a person, does that person gain its power?”
- 2 Sahng-jeh-nim said, “If the spirit of a sage responds, compassion arises in you.
- 3 If the spirit of a hero responds, courage arises in you.
- 4 If the spirit of a stalwart responds, great strength arises in you.
- 5 If the spirit of a thief responds, covetousness arises in you.
- 6 I can make use of even trees and stones by applying qi.”
- 7 He continued, “The mind is the pathway of the spirits.
- 8 If you think of a sage, the spirit of a sage will respond.
- 9 If you think of a hero, the spirit of a hero will respond.
- 10 If you think of a stalwart, the spirit of a stalwart will respond.
- 11 If you think of a thief, the spirit of a thief will respond.
- 12 Success, failure, good fortune, and misfortune are all decided according to your sincerity and will.”
