• The Program of Marching to a Drum
  • Sahng-jeh-nim then went to Hwahng Eung-johng’s house and sent Eung-johng to Shin Gyung-wun’s house to get a new spoon.
  • When Eung-johng returned, Sahng-jeh-nim ordered him to bring out the nine bowls of sweet rice drink he had previously been told to prepare. Sahng-jeh-nim poured the rice drink into a pot, filling it to the brim.
  • He then prepared bundles of Western paper, of white paper, and of thick paper and said,
  • “They say the place called Standing Bell in Bee-in Township has powerful qi. I will use that qi for the Program of Marching to a Drum.
  • A drum needs a drumstick. This spoon will serve as one.
  • On the march, the spoon will be used as a drumstick so that wealth grows and never runs out.”
  • Sahng-jeh-nim cut all the paper into small pieces. He wrote something on each piece and then put all of the paper into the pot, pushing the paper down with the spoon.
  • The paper filled the pot, but the rice drink did not overflow.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim covered the pot tightly and buried it in a clean place on a mountain in front of Wa-ryohng Village. After this work was finished, thunder was heard from all four directions.
