- 1 When Sahng-jeh-nim was going to conduct a work of renewal that involved a food offering, He would choose a specific date.
- 2 He had several pigs, dogs, or cows slaughtered, but other food was not prepared.
- 3 He had sheets of paper piled to the height of one and a half ja. He wrote on these and then burned them. The yard would become like a garden of fire.
- 4 Once, when walking around looking at what was going on, Ho-yun interrupted. “Why are You burning paper?”

- 8 “Come here,” said Sahng-jeh-nim. “Now sit over there.” He wrapped a band of paper around her head, covering her mouth.
