• A Great Work of Renewal for Granting the Tae-eul Mantra
  • One day in 1908, Sahng-jeh-nim came to Ahn Nae-sung’s house and said to him,
  • “Offer a feast to heaven and earth today.” He continued, “Prepare three tables of food and present to Me three hundred nyahng.”
  • Nae-sung, who was very poor, asked his mother, “Mother, my Teacher has required an offering of three hundred nyahng, but I do not have a single coin. What shall I do?”
  • “We do not have such a large sum,” his mother replied, “but I have been saving some money in that pot. Take it out and count it.” Nae-sung took out the money and found only three hundred nip.
  • He reported to Sahng-jeh-nim, “All I have is three hundred nip.”
  • “I will use it in place of the three hundred nyahng,” Sahng-jeh-nim replied. “Bring it to Me quickly.” When Nae-sung brought the money, Sahng-jeh-nim said, “With this three hundred nip, buy rice wine.”
  • Nae-sung bought a huge pot of wine at a nearby inn and carried it on his wooden backpack. It was such a heavy load that even a strong young man would have had difficulty carrying it.
  • Nae-sung and his mother prepared the tables, laying out vegetable dishes and cooked barley.
Sahng-jeh-nim said, “Offer an equal amount of rice wine on each table and then bow in prayer.”
  • After Nae-sung bowed, Sahng-jeh-nim sat at the middle table and ate the food from the offering.
  • 10 After eating, Sahng-jeh-nim said, “Receive this mantra. It contains all the blessings, wealth, and longevity in the world.” He chanted the Tae-eul Mantra seven times and then had Nae-sung chant.
  • Assigning the Yool-lyuh Program to Ahn Nae-sung
  • 11 Sahng-jeh-nim then said, “You are the wife of My dao. If nothing else, I give you the Tae-eul Mantra. Chant it as much as you can.
  • 12 Convey it to the world. The Tae-eul Mantra is the yool-lyuh of the universe.”
  • 13 He also said, “Dig. Dig. Dig deep. If you dig shallow, you will die. You must dig deeper and deeper.”
  • 14 Sahng-jeh-nim assigned the Yool-lyuh Program to Nae-sung. Later, following Sahng-jeh-nim’s mandate, Nae-sung chanted the Tae-eul Mantra with one mind for three years.
  • 15 Also, Sahng-jeh-nim assigned the Chun-maek Program to Gyung-suk, the Shaman Program to Nae-sung, the Program for the University of Great Learning to Gyung-hahk, and the Sahm-shin Program to Chahng-jo.
  • Nae-sung Assumes the Role of
    the Mother of Sahng-jeh-nim’s Dao
  • 16 One day, Sahng-jeh-nim said to Ahn Nae-sung, “You should take on the role of the mother of My dao. Mo-ahk Mountain has the shape of a mother embracing a baby, does it not?
  • 17 Babies live on their mothers’ milk; so you, having become the mother of My dao, should teach the Tae-eul Mantra to all people.
  • 18 Chanting the Tae-eul Mantra is like suckling from the breast of heaven and earth. No one can live without chanting the Tae-eul Mantra.
  • 19 Since there should be a mother to raise children, you should chant the Tae-eul Mantra in order to serve as the mother of My dao.”
