- A Work of Renewal Concerning the Chil-sung-gyung Mantra
- 1 One day, Sahng-jeh-nim gave Gim Duk-chahn a piece of paper and said, “Write out the Chil-sung-gyung Mantra.”
- 2 When Duk-chahn asked how big he should write it, Sahng-jeh-nim said, “Do as you wish.”
- 3 When Gim Duk-chahn finished, the writing filled the paper, leaving only enough space for three more characters.
- 4 Seeing this, Sahng-jeh-nim said, “Write the three characters chil, sung, and gyung.” Afterward, Sahng-jeh-nim burned the paper.
- 5 One day, when teaching the disciples, Sahng-jeh-nim told them to chant the Chil-sung-gyung Mantra and the Gae-byuk Mantra.
