• A Work of Renewal for Organ Transplants
  • One day, while staying in Gu-rit-gohl Village, Sahng-jeh-nim went to a farmhouse and removed the liver from an ox without cutting the animal. The ox fell to the ground.
  • When the family complained that their ox could not stand, Sahng-jeh-nim put a dog’s liver in place of the ox’s liver.
  • The family’s farmhand tried to bring the ox out into the field to do some plowing. Instead, the ox went to the outhouse and ate excrement.
  • Everyone was worried and asked Sahng-jeh-nim how the field would be plowed with their ox acting so strangely.
  • Laughing, Sahng-jeh-nim said, “Growing barley is futile. I can live without barley.”
  • They became more worried and pleaded with Him to save the ox.
  • “The ox is fine,” Sahng-jeh-nim said. “Have you not seen it going to the outhouse to eat excrement? Shall I remove your organs to save the ox?” Fearing He would really do it, they did not say anything more.
  • With a straw basket on His back, Sahng-jeh-nim started to leave. From behind Him, someone commented, “That farmer begged Him to save the ox, but He is walking away as if it is not His concern.”
  • Hearing this, Sahng-jeh-nim came back, slapped the person on the face, and threw him into a stream, saying He would break him into pieces. Sahng-jeh-nim then left carrying the basket on His back.
  • 10 Later, He returned and put the liver back into the ox.
