- Works of Renewal in Many Countries
- 1 When visiting one country, Sahng-jeh-nim went inside a house and said, “Bring Me something to eat.”
- 2 He then drew a horse and burned it. Rather than turning into ash, it became a real horse.
- 3 Riding the horse, they went to another country for a work of renewal.
- 4 In that country, they came to a gate, and the gatekeeper, upon seeing Sahng-jeh-nim, stood up straight and then bowed. After bowing, he did not raise his head, not daring to look at Sahng-jeh-nim.
- 5 Leaving Ho-yun at the gate, Sahng-jeh-nim went in and, shortly after, came out.
- 6 Ho-yun asked, “Why did You come out so quickly?”
“Someone far away is calling Me,” Sahng-jeh-nim explained. “I must go there ahead of you.” He left her in Hyung-yul’s care, saying, “Wait for Me at Du-ree Peak in Jeonju.” Then, He flew away into the air.
- 7 After Sahng-jeh-nim left, Hyung-yul and Ho-yun suddenly found themselves on the peak.
- 8 A long time had passed, and they were still waiting for Sahng-jeh-nim. Around dusk, there was thunder and lightning, and it started to rain heavily.
- 9 The rain drops were so big they hurt Ho-yun’s cheeks. She had to crouch with her face covered with a washcloth. Suddenly, Sahng-jeh-nim came from behind and tapped her on the neck.
- 10 “Why did You do that?” Ho-yun said, startled. “You surprised me.”
- 11 “What could surprise a child? On My way here, I bought you some candy.” Sahng-jeh-nim gave her the candy.
- 12 Then, He said, “You should bow to express thanks before eating it.”
“If I don’t like You, do I have to bow?”
- 13 “Why don’t you like Me? I bought you candy.”
