• Rousing the Qi of the Four Auspicious Sites
  • Sahng-jeh-nim then spread out three sheets of paper and, in the corners of each, wrote the name “Chun-gohk.”
  • “Who is he?” Chee-bohk asked.
Sahng-jeh-nim explained, “He was put in charge of Dohng-nae County during the Japanese invasion in 1592, and there he died in battle.”
  • Sahng-jeh-nim had Chee-bohk and Sohng-hwahn hold the paper while facing each other and said, “It looks like a cloth that shades a bier.”
  • He had them lay the paper on the ground and said to Gahp-chil, “Go out and see if there are any clouds in the sky.”
  • Gahp-chil found that there was one cloud in the west. He reported this to Sahng-jeh-nim, who said,
  • “Go out again and see if the sky is now covered with clouds.” Gahp-chil found that clouds had instantly covered the sky.
  • When Gahp-chil reported this, Sahng-jeh-nim wrote in the middle of the paper:
  • 胡僧禮佛 群臣奉朝 五仙圍碁 仙女織錦
  • Buddhist Monks In Prayer
Subjects Obedient to the King’s Orders
    Five Immortals Playing Ba-dook
    Female Immortals Weaving Silk
  • He then said to Chee-bohk, “In the ‘Goong-eul Song,’ it is written ‘Sa-myung-dahng will be reborn.’ People thought this referred to the monk called Sa-myung-dahng.
  • They were mistaken. Sa-myung-dahng means ‘Four Auspicious Sites.’
  • 10 Creative change lies in Buddhism. With the qi of Buddhist Monks in Prayer, the power of creative change is used.
  • 11 Long life free of illness lies in Immortalism. With the qi of Five Immortals Playing Ba-dook, people will live long without illness.
  • 12 With the qi of Subjects Obedient to the King’s Orders, nations will be peaceful.
  • 13 With the qi of Female Immortals Weaving Silk, all people will be dressed in silk.
  • 14 On the fifteenth day of June, I will hold memorial rites for Shin-nohng and conduct a work.
  • 15 This year is the village gate of heaven and earth. If the work is not completed this year, the work cannot be accomplished.”
  • 16 One day, in Chey Chahng-jo’s house, Sahng-jeh-nim wrote “Four Auspicious Sites” on a piece of paper, hung it like a bell, and said, “The qi of the Four Auspicious Sites will bring forth one person.”
