• The One Who Becomes the Su-bu
  • On a later visit to Dae-heung Village, Sahng-jeh-nim asked Gyung-suk, “You said you would find one to be the su-bu. How is it coming along?” As soon as Sahng-jeh-nim said this, Gyung-suk thought of his cousin.
  • Gyung-suk went to see Her. However, because She had been a widow for only five months, he did not know how to broach the subject.
  • He improvised, “I am planning to leave on a trip tomorrow at dawn, but my coat is not ready yet. Could You come to my house and prepare it for me?” She agreed.
  • As She went through the gate, suddenly there was brightness. Above the entrance of the guest quarters, a full moon shone brilliantly, and within that moon, She saw an immortal sitting still.
  • She sat down to sew, but was unable to because She was still in a state of euphoria from seeing the image.
  • Gyung-suk said to Sahng-jeh-nim, “The woman who just went into the living quarters is my cousin. Would She make a good su-bu?”
  • “She was nearby all along, but was not chosen until now,” Sahng-jeh-nim said. “Arrange it immediately. Otherwise, there will be a delay in the work of renewal.”
  • 10 Gyung-suk hurriedly went into the living quarters to talk to his cousin. He explained that the Teacher in the guest quarters was conducting the work of renewing heaven and earth and was about to establish the Program of the Su-bu. He asked Her if She would take on the responsibility of being the su-bu.
  • 11 She gladly agreed, and later Sahng-jeh-nim performed a ceremony in which He designated Her as the Su-bu.
