- The Wrestler in the Ultimate Contest
- 1 Sahng-jeh-nim said, “My work is like the ultimate contest of a wrestling tournament.
- 2 The one who is to win this contest remains asleep until people make a commotion, yelling, ‘The ultimate contest is coming!’ Then, he enters the ring and yells like thunder,
- 3 ‘Come see the ultimate contest. The last move is here. The tail of Gahp-ja is here. The yellow rooster crows for the second time.
- 4 Wrestlers in the ultimate contest, enter!’ Who will be his match?
- 5 Alas! All their efforts have been in vain. The person who is to win the ox has arrived. The others have danced in vain throughout the night.
- 6 The six instruments play loudly, and the ultimate contest is over.”
- The Ultimate Contest Is for the Adults
- 7 One day, when walking on Phoenix Mountain accompanied by Bahk Gohng-ooh, Sahng-jeh-nim said,
- 8 “The mountain over there is Yellow Ox Mountain. Once the children and youths have wrestled, the ultimate contest is for the adults. In it, a yellow ox is offered to the winner.
- 9 The person in the ultimate contest has eaten a lot of meat and drunk much wine. He defeats his opponent with one shout then walks off with the yellow ox.
- 10 The ultimate contest is for people with a sahng-du.”
- Sahng-du, the Seven Stars
- 11 When Gohng-ooh asked about the meaning of sahng-du, Sahng-jeh-nim answered, “Sahng-du (上斗) means the North Stars, which are the Seven Stars.”
