- The Size of Nations After Gae-byuk
- 1 Sahng-jeh-nim asked Gim Gyung-hahk, “Can one become a king with ten juk?”
“I am not sure what You mean by the word juk.”
- 2 “One juk is ten people,” Sahng-jeh-nim said.
Gyung-hahk answered, “With just ten juk, I do not think one could become a king.”
- 3 Sahng-jeh-nim continued, “How about with one hundred juk?”
Gyung-hahk answered, “That would not be possible.”
- 4 “How about one thousand juk?”
“That, too, would not be possible.”
- 5 “How about ten thousand juk?”
“That also would not be possible.”
- 6 “How about a hundred thousand juk?”
Finally, Gyung-hahk agreed. “With a hundred thousand juk, one could become a king.”
- 7 Then, Sahng-jeh-nim wrote something and burned it.
