- Overcoming Worldly Qi
- 1 Sahng-jeh-nim usually said very little and prohibited the disciples from chatting.
- 2 If the disciples praised something they saw as they traveled along a road with Sahng-jeh-nim, He would admonish them.
- 3 “If you praise the possessions of others, a thievish mind has arisen within you. It is a worldly act. By cultivating your mind and overcoming worldly qi, you can ascend to greatness.”
- 4 If someone called an active and intelligent child “an extraordinary child,” Sahng-jeh-nim would say, “For children to become extraordinary, they must first live long. Not knowing how long they will live, how can you call them extraordinary?”
