  • During that time, Jeung-san read books on Confucianism, Buddhism, Daoism, yin-yang principles, and prophecies. “These books will be helpful in saving the world,” He declared.

  • That autumn, He set out on a journey to further experience the world and humanity.
  • Ahn Pil-sung accompanied Him until they reached Gahng-gyung Township.
  • From then on, He traveled alone.
  • Meeting the Philosopher Gim Il-bu
  • Jeung-san went to Hyahng-juk Mountain in Yun-sahn County to visit Gim Il-bu. There, He watched Il-bu practice a form of meditation involving song and dance.
  • Il-bu Visits the Jade City and Sees Sahng-jeh-nim
  • The night before, Il-bu dreamed that a messenger from heaven proclaimed, “Come up to the Jade City.” He followed the messenger and entered a magnificent gold palace on which was inscribed “Shining Cloud Hall.” Inside Il-bu paid homage to Sahng-jeh-nim.
  • Il-bu realized Jeung-san’s appearance was exactly the same as that of Sahng-jeh-nim in the previous night’s dream.
  • He told Jeung-san about the dream and, in deep admiration and respect, wanted to give Him the name Shining Cloud, but Jeung-san did not accept.
  • 10 He stayed with Il-bu and discussed how things would unfold in heaven and earth in the process of the Later Heaven Gae-byuk.
