• Sahng-jeh-nim Heals Gim Joon-sahng’s Wife
  • One day in 1908, while Sahng-jeh-nim was staying at Hyung-yul’s house, Gim Joon-sahng, Gahp-chil’s elder brother, came and pleaded,
  • “For over a year, my wife has had an infection on her foot. It continues to decay and is producing a foul smell.
  • A doctor said that because the infection was on the vital point on the sole, it could not be cured. He said her life could be saved, but she would lose her foot. It will cost 105 nyahng.
  • Having no alternative, I plan to borrow the money using my house as collateral. Would You write a contract for me?”
  • “If that is the case,” Sahng-jeh-nim replied, “transfer the ownership of your house to Me. All that matters is that she is healed, right?”
  • “Yes, that is true.” Joon-sahng transferred the deed to Sahng-jeh-nim.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim said, “Starting tomorrow, her sickness will begin to get better. Take My word.”
  • 10 Indeed, the foot that could not be cured and that had been decaying for over a year healed completely in fifteen days. Joon-sahng’s wife came and gave many thanks to Sahng-jeh-nim.
  • The Dharma of Ui-tohng Is the Best
  • 11 Sahng-jeh-nim laughed. “The world is always like this. Not knowing who I am, people speak ill of Me; but once they know who I am, no matter who they are, they are happy to have met Me.
  • 12 All I have to do is heal those about to die.
  • 13 Among all dharmas in this world, the dharma of ui-tohng is the best.”
  • 14 He allowed Joon-sahng to live in the house as before, and Sahng-jeh-nim took only one room, which He would renovate in order to open a medicine room.
