• The Ship of South Joseon Program
  • One day in February, Sahng-jeh-nim selected eight disciples and sent two of them in each of the four directions.
  • When sending them, He ordered, “Buy alcohol and serve it to passersby.”
  • To the east was Ee-ree County, to the west was Mahn-gyung Township, to the south was Gim-jeh County, and to the north was Hahm-yul Township.
  • Meanwhile, with other disciples, Sahng-jeh-nim went to Jung Choon-shim’s house in Mahn-joong Village, Ik-sahn County, which lay near Bae Mountain. At that house, He performed a work of renewal.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim had a set of monk’s clothes made and hung them on a wall inside a room for seven days, during which time He stayed in the room, ordering that it not be heated.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim continually recited the Four Auspicious Sites and said, “I will initiate the great destiny of mountains and rivers and activate the Ship of South Joseon Program.”
  • He told Choon-shim to boil an ox’s head and put it in front of the door. Then, He said, “I will row the ship.”
  • Sahng-jeh-nim had Choon-shim’s son, Jung Sung-baek, burn the monk’s clothes in the kitchen.
  • Suddenly, there was thunder that sounded like a ship’s horn and a strong smell of coal.
  • 10 All the beams of the house rocked as if it were a ship in a great storm. Some people vomited, and all except Sahng-jeh-nim fainted.
  • 11 Chickens that hopped around, fluttering their wings, fell from the air dead; barking dogs suddenly died, falling flat on the ground; and in the yard, straw mats blew about. Finally, everything was still.
  • 12 Gim Hyung-yul, Gim Ja-hyun, So Jin-sup, Gim Duk-yu, Gim Gwahng-chahn, Gim Gahp-chil, Jung Choon-shim, Jung Sung-baek, and the rest of Choon-shim’s family took part in this work of renewal.
  • 13 Duk-yu fainted outside the gate, Choon-shim’s family members passed out inside their rooms or wherever they were, and Gahp-chil, who also lost consciousness, could barely breathe.
  • 14 Sahng-jeh-nim poured some fresh water into Gahp-chil’s mouth and slowly whispered in his ear, “Gahp-chil.”
  • 15 Gahp-chil replied in a small voice with a long “Yes.” He instantly recovered.
  • 16 Sahng-jeh-nim revived them one by one, some by sprinkling water in their faces and others by pouring water in their mouths so that they could drink.
  • 17 Then, Sahng-jeh-nim said to them, “You endured much to accomplish this work. Be sure to eat meals at the proper time.”
  • 18 Sahng-jeh-nim wrote something on paper and gave it to Gahp-chil. “Burn this in the kitchen.” In the kitchen, Gahp-chil found Sung-baek’s wife unconscious.
  • 19 He quickly burned the paper, and she instantly regained consciousness. She then prepared a meal.
  • 20 Sahng-jeh-nim mixed rice and other food in a big bowl and had everyone share it. He said, “This is the medicine of immortality.”
  • 21 After eating, everyone felt clear-headed and fully reinvigorated. Duk-yu, who had been suffering from a serious lung disease, was completely cured.
  • 22 Sahng-jeh-nim asked, “How do you feel now that the Ship of South Joseon has set sail? This work of renewal is the foundation of our work.”
  • 23 They all stood up, bowed to Sahng-jeh-nim, and said, “It was really frightening. If it were not for You, we would all be dead.”
  • 24 Sahng-jeh-nim said, “How can such a weak group expect to accomplish our work in haste? When all the spirit generals and all the spirit soldiers come forth and two blue dragons arise, few people will be able to remain conscious.
  • 25 At such an urgent time, call out to Me.”
