• Sahng-jeh-nim Weeps Facing a Wall
  • In a room, lying down facing a wall, Sahng-jeh-nim said sorrowfully,
  • “The whole of humanity is on the brink of destruction. It is difficult to save everyone, regardless of what I do. How can I not be full of sorrow?” After saying this, He began to weep.
  • Pray with One Mind
  • One day, Sahng-jeh-nim said, “You must pray with one mind. I will create the world in accordance with how you pray.”
  • Sahng-jeh-nim Weeps over the Destiny of Humanity
  • Once, when traveling with Ho-yun, Sahng-jeh-nim stopped to wash her in a stream. Afterward, as He was washing His own feet, He suddenly wept aloud.
  • “What is the matter?” Ho-yun asked. “Did You lose something?”
“Look into the water,” He replied. When Ho-yun looked, she saw many minnows in the clear water swarming to get food.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim continued, “People rush about like minnows, trying to eat and live, eventually dying in vain. The thought overwhelms Me with grief and pity.
  • Worldly affairs are fleeting. They pass by absent of any meaning.” He let out a deep sigh and lamented, “How empty, how empty, how empty.”
  • Wiping Out a Township, Wiping Out the World
  • One day, Sahng-jeh-nim was walking up Yohng-muh-ree Hill, when He looked toward Jeonju.
  • “Wiping out a room becomes wiping out a village. Wiping out a village becomes wiping out a township. Wiping out a township becomes wiping out the whole world.
  • 10 What will you do with the corpses in the cities? Corpses! Corpses! You will not be able to bear the smell. Compared to that, corpses in the countryside will seem trivial.”
  • 11 “What will happen to the corpses in the cities?” a disciple asked.
“What a stench! What a stench! What a stench of decaying corpses during the dog days in the fifth and sixth lunar months!”
  • 12 Turning His head away, Sahng-jeh-nim said, “The stench will block your nose.”
  • 13 He continued, “I will let the mahng-nyahng spirits rake them into the West Sea in one night.”
  • 14 “How many will survive in Jeonju?” another disciple asked.
A housemaid outside the South Gate will survive.”
  • 15 The disciple then asked, “How many will survive in Your hometown, Gaeng-mahng Village?”
  • 16 “It will be a graveyard.”
