• Protecting the Followers from the Authorities
  • In 1921, on the anniversary of Sahng-jeh-nim’s birthday, a hundred or so followers gathered to attend the chee-sung.
  • From early in the evening, Tae-mo-nim hurried the preparations for the offering. Throughout the evening, She appeared to be in a rush, and when the ceremony was over, She said to the followers, “Hurry and return home.”
  • The followers quickly returned home. Early the next morning, the Gim-jeh County police came and conducted a thorough search of the entire premises.
  • Around this time, the Japanese central command in Korea considered organizations founded on Jeung-san Sahng-jeh-nim’s teachings conspiratorial and ordered their suppression.
  • Knowing that a large gathering would prompt a police arrest, Tae-mo-nim had told the followers to quickly disperse.
  • On October 15, about three hundred gathered for a chee-sung, and this caught the attention of the authorities.
  • But the followers were able to return to their homes safely because heavy fog covered the area, preventing them from being seen.
