• Family Strife
  • In October, a man from Jeonju County called Moon Tae-yoon came to see Sahng-jeh-nim. Noticing the bundle Tae-yoon brought along, Sahng-jeh-nim remarked,
  • “This secluded place is for study only, and I cannot admit people with other intentions. Unwrap your bundle―there is something in it that causes war.”
  • Looking embarrassed, Tae-yoon hesitated. Sahng-jeh-nim asked, “What keeps you from showing it to Me?”
  • Ashamed, Tae-yoon untied the bundle, which contained documents for a property suit against one of his nephews.
  • “I came to consult You on this unseemly affair,” Tae-yoon said, “but was ashamed to bring up the subject.”
  • Sahng-jeh-nim counseled him. “The worst kind of war is family strife. It leads to world war. Burn the documents and go home to reconcile with your nephew.”
  • Tae-yoon did as he was told, and affairs were settled between him and his nephew.
