- Three Policemen on Horseback
- 1 While traveling on foot with Hwahng Eung-johng and Gim Gahp-chil, Sahng-jeh-nim stopped just before a bridge in Wun-pyung Village, planting His feet firmly on the ground.
- 2 Soon, three Japanese policemen arrived on horseback at the other end of the bridge, but their horses would move no further no matter how hard the policemen whipped them.
- 3 Seeing Sahng-jeh-nim standing at the other end, they dismounted from their horses and let go of the bridles. They walked across the bridge, bowed to Sahng-jeh-nim, and pleaded with Him to step aside.
- 4 “What did I do to make you act like this?” Sahng-jeh-nim said with a laugh. He turned to face another direction, and only then did the horses cross the bridge.
- 5 He explained, “Thinking it impolite for the policemen to pass in front of Me on horseback, the spirits governing roads reprimanded them.”
