• Resolution of Public and Private Affairs
  • The following morning, at an inn on Yohng-muh-ree Hill, Sahng-jeh-nim met Gim Byung-ook, who told Him the skull had been recovered.
  • “What happened to the thief?” asked Sahng-jeh-nim.
“He was taken to the police station.”
  • “Why was he taken there? He should have just been reprimanded and sent home.”
  • Sahng-jeh-nim ordered black attire made and later burned it, saying, “He will only be sent to prison.” Indeed, the thief was sentenced to prison with hard labor rather than executed.
  • When the disciples asked Sahng-jeh-nim how He had predicted the date of the recovery so accurately, He explained,
  • “If I attach a private matter to a program in the work of renewing heaven and earth, both the public and private affairs are resolved together when the proper time comes.”
