• A Pheasant Containing Lethal Qi
  • In Gu-rit-gohl Village, a man gave Sahng-jeh-nim a pheasant. Sahng-jeh-nim left it untouched for three days, and it began to spoil.
  • When the disciples mentioned it, Sahng-jeh-nim had them boil and eat it, but did not have any Himself.
  • When asked why, He replied, “Since the man’s wife was reluctant to part with it, the pheasant contained lethal qi.”
  • “Then, why did You allow us to eat it?” asked one of the disciples.
  • “I removed the lethal qi,” He replied.
  • To Change Your Spouse’s Mind
  • Sahng-jeh-nim said, “To follow the dao leading to greatness, you have to change your spouse’s mind so that your spouse will follow you in all matters.
  • If, no matter how hard you try, you cannot change your spouse’s mind, do not cause trouble, but yield and make it your routine to bow deeply in respect to your spouse every day.
  • 10 Eventually, your spouse will be moved by your sincerity and follow you. This is the way our ancestors conducted their relationships.”
