- Because They Do Not Know Sahng-jeh-nim
- 4 When someone was excessively rude to Him, Sahng-jeh-nim treated the person with all the more respect.
- 5 If the disciples objected to this, He would explain,
- 6 “They are disrespectful to Me because they do not know Me. If they knew Me well, they would act no differently from you.
- 7 Why should I mind their being rude to Me when it comes from mere ignorance?”
- Do Not Deceive Others
- 8 Sahng-jeh-nim taught the disciples not to deceive others, saying,
- 9 “If you base a story upon a lie, there will be no escape when you are found out.
- 10 When a matchbox is empty, though it is only a matchbox, it should be broken and thrown away.”
- A Child with Hidden Lineage
- 11 A woman gave birth to a child conceived in an extramarital affair, but her husband did not know this.
- 12 Sahng-jeh-nim said to the woman, “Why commit the deplorable act of hiding that child’s lineage?” The woman told Sahng-jeh-nim the truth.
