• The Sun and Moon Stop Moving
  • One winter morning in 1908, in preparation for the day’s travel from Dae-heung Village to Chey Chahng-jo’s house in Sae-ool Village,
  • Gohng-ooh put on overshoes, thinking the road would get muddy when the sun rose.
  • Seeing them, Sahng-jeh-nim remarked, “You are wearing overshoes?” He faced east toward the sun rising above the hills, then He gestured with His hand three times as if to push down the sun. The sun did not rise any further.
  • Later, when they stopped to rest at an inn in Sahl-po-jung-ee Village, the sun suddenly rose.
  • “This inn is about twenty or thirty lee from Dae-heung Village,” Gohng-ooh said. “Why did the sun not move while we were walking along the road?”
  • Sahng-jeh-nim said, “The sun and moon stop moving on My command.”
  • Hiding the Seven Stars
  • On reaching Chey Chahng-jo’s house, Sahng-jeh-nim buried a written order for the lightning spirit. Suddenly, a storm of thunder and lightning shook the earth. Then, Sahng-jeh-nim made it stop. The next day, He returned to the medicine room in Gu-rit-gohl Village.
  • There, Shin Wun-il asked, “Is it true that Great Monk Jin-mook hid the Seven Stars for seven days?”
  • “I will try it now,” said Sahng-jeh-nim, and He hid the Seven Stars for three months.
  • 10 He later commented, “Though there are many astronomers in the world, not one of them reported the disappearance of the Seven Stars.”
