- Heaven Is Without Personal Desire
- 4 Hyung-yul once said to Sahng-jeh-nim, “Jung Jip-shin, who for a long time stayed with my great-grandfather, was divinely inspired.
- 5 One year, the villagers ran out of food before the barley harvest; but he found a gold mine in the village, saving them from hunger.
- 6 Also, he found marvelous ginseng that cured the sick, and he foretold that in 1862 there would be an insurrection in Gyung-sahng Province.
- 7 It grieves me that my great-grandfather did not have him point out an auspicious grave site that would have brought good fortune to our family.”
- 8 Sahng-jeh-nim said, “A man of such great wisdom would not have eaten someone else’s food without paying.
- 9 The principle of heaven is absolutely just and impartial. It utterly lacks personal desire.”
