- 1 Meanwhile, without knowledge of Hyo-soon’s outrageous behavior, Hyung-yul went to Hwa-jung Village to hear news about Sahng-jeh-nim.
- 2 Hyo-soon’s family captured Hyung-yul, tied him up, and took him to Wun-gyu’s house, where they tried to coerce him into revealing Sahng-jeh-nim’s whereabouts.
- 3 Unable to get any information from Hyung-yul, they became angrier and beat him and Wun-gyu.
- 4 It was not until late at night that Hyung-yul escaped.
- 5 After being harassed day after day, Wun-gyu closed his herbal medicine shop and took his family to Ik-sahn County to hide.
- 6 After the disturbance caused by Hyo-soon, Hyung-yul lost contact with Sahng-jeh-nim and His family, but continued searching for them everywhere.
- 7 Eventually, in Go-bu County he found Gahp-chil, who told him Sahng-jeh-nim was staying in a small house at the foot of Du-seung Mountain. Hyung-yul visited Sahng-jeh-nim and returned home after arranging to meet again.
- 8 A disciple later asked, “You have limitless power, so why did You tolerate the trouble caused by Jahng Hyo-soon?”
- 9 Sahng-jeh-nim explained, “Strife within the family of dao or within your own families brings about disorder in the way things are governed spiritually.
- 10 Left unchecked, it leads to great disaster worldwide. So I, Myself, accepted the qi of strife to dissolve it.
- 11 For these reasons, I have always told you to insist on peace.”
