• Washing in a Stream
  • Sahng-jeh-nim seldom had someone bring Him water for washing. Instead, He would go to the stream in Gu-rit-gohl Village.
  • When traveling along a road, He sometimes stopped by a stream to wash His face and feet; after cleaning His washcloth in the water, He would wash Ho-yun.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim’s Clothes
  • When Sahng-jeh-nim’s clothes became dirty, He would not take them off until some embarrassed disciples tried to remove them from His body.
  • They would complain, “Why will You not take them off?”
“Why would I trouble others?” He would say. “I will wash them Myself later.”
  • But when the disciples brought Him new clothes made by Eun-ju, He accepted them without a word.
  • Usually, they would just leave the clothes in the corner of the room, but sometimes Sahng-jeh-nim would ask the disciples to dress Him.
  • On those occasions, with Sahng-jeh-nim sitting on the floor, two disciples would each hold one of His legs and put them into the trousers. When they put their arms around Him to lift Him to His feet, He complained, “You’re hurting Me, you ruffians!”
  • If the disciples started laughing, He laughed with them and said, “You rascals, what’re you laughing at? Don’t you have something hanging from there? You’re laughing at seeing My pepper, aren’t you?”
