- Avoid Being Categorized
- 1 One person said, “Teacher Jeung-san is indeed difficult to understand.”
- 2 Having overheard this, Sahng-jeh-nim said, “A person must be difficult to figure out. If you are labeled as a certain type, it is difficult to go beyond mediocrity.
- 3 Avoid being categorized.
- 4 If you are categorized, you cannot succeed.”
- Those Who Speak Ill of Sahng-jeh-nim
- 5 One day, a disciple said to Sahng-jeh-nim, “People think You are a madman.”
- 6 Sahng-jeh-nim laughed loudly. “Before 1901, feeling compassion for all people and wanting to save them, I traveled in every direction to meet many people and study their customs and culture.
- 7 In those days, I read faces and told fortunes. They called Me a divine person. Some of them even slaughtered a cow to have a meal in My honor. At that time, I acted on empty words.
- 8 Since 1901, however, I have been acting on the words of heaven and earth. Yet, people now consider Me a madman.
- 9 A madman cannot establish a doctrine or manage things.
- 10 When the time comes, those who speak ill of Me will be the first to shed tears and bow before Me.”
- You Will Govern the World
- 11 One day, Sahng-jeh-nim said to the disciples, “I will establish peace in the world, and you will govern it.”
- If Not Done by Sahng-jeh-nim
- 12 On another occasion, He said to them, “It was not My intention to take charge of the work of renewal. The spirits of heaven and earth came to Me and pleaded, ‘Heaven and earth cannot be set right unless Sahng-jeh-nim does it.’ Though it is extremely distressing, I had no choice but to undertake the work.”
