- Nothing Is Done Without Principle
- 1 One day in 1907, Ho-yun asked, “If You know how, why don’t You take a picture of me? Why can’t You do that?”
- 2 “In the future, it will become very common,” Sahng-jeh-nim said, “but I don’t have such a machine.”
- 3 “You can do everything else. Why can’t You do that?”
- 4 “That, too, is done according to a principle. Nothing can be done without principle.”
- God Exists Because God Exists
- 5 One day, Sahng-jeh-nim asked Hyung-yul, “What should I do about that rascal?”
- 6 “Will there not be problems because of that child?” Hyung-yul said.
- 7 Ho-yun interrupted, “Isn’t it silly to bring someone else’s child around with You and then say this and that?”
- 8 “What is ‘this and that’?” asked Sahng-jeh-nim.
- 9 “Why did a child, still suckling, come here and suffer so much?”
- 10 Sahng-jeh-nim smiled. “God takes you with Him because He knows what you were in your previous life.”
- 11 “Then, where is God?”
- 12 “I say God exists, because God exists.” Sahng-jeh-nim laughed. “Is there not a heaven above?”
- 13 To little Ho-yun, the heaven seemed low enough to reach with a stick. “Should I poke a stick through it?”
- 14 “You can try anytime you like, but though it looks close, it is thousands of lee away.”
