• The Hwahng-geuk Number
  • One day in October of 1908, Sahng-jeh-nim filled a notebook with writings and drawings. He then ripped out the pages one by one and had the disciples tear them up. After that, He counted all the pieces and burned them, one at a time. They totaled 383.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim said, “One piece is missing. Find it.” They looked all over, and under a mattress, they found a piece that was part of a drawing of a person.
  • Burning it, Sahng-jeh-nim said, “This is the Hwahng-geuk number. This number, which appeared at the time of King Yao, now appears again.”
  • Brightness Opens in Sa, Oh, Mee
  • One day, Ahn Nae-sung asked, “When will the time come?” Sahng-jeh-nim folded each finger on one hand as if counting and then stretched out His little finger to indicate six. He then recited a poem:
  • I am also going, I am also going.
I am also going, following my beloved.
I am also going, following that beloved one.
On a sandy field ten lee wide,
set up a tent of five colors.
Among one, two, three, four, five, six,
only the book drum and jahng-gu drum make sound:
    Doong! Doong!
In the Hours of the Tiger, Rabbit, and Dragon,
it is difficult to know how affairs will proceed.
In the Hours of the Snake, Horse, and Sheep,
    brightness opens.
