- Du Chul-ooh’s Longevity
- 1 One day, Du Chul-ooh of Wun-dahng Village visited Tae-mo-nim.
- 2 She sat him in front of Her and asked, “How old is your child?”
“Fourteen,” he replied.
“When you return home, have him get married soon.”
- 3 But Chul-ooh felt his son was not ready for marriage. “My child is still young.”
- 4 She repeatedly urged him to find his son a wife regardless of the son’s age.
- 5 She then told Min-hwahn three times, “Increase Chul-ooh’s longevity.” Chul-ooh then went outside.
- 6 “I will do it according to what people think of him,” Min-hwahn replied without thinking.
- 7 Pouring him a drink, Tae-mo-nim lamented, “There is no other way.”
- 8 Chul-ooh returned home and died several months later.
