• Medicine Responds to the Qi of the Five Elements
  • In 1906, Hyung-yul suffered from an ailment in his leg that caused him to have chills and a headache. He was unable to eat and was in severe pain. Sahng-jeh-nim said to him, “Recite the names of the sixty-four hexagrams of I Ching.”
  • When Hyung-yul did this, the chills subsided, his headache stopped, and his leg was healed. Thinking this strange, Hyung-yul asked about how he was cured.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim said, “In the eight trigrams, there exists the principle of the five elements. Medicine responds to the qi of the five elements.”
