• Time Is Running Out
  • In 1908, Sahng-jeh-nim came to Gyung-suk’s house and wrote, “The greatest palace under heaven, Efang Palace (天下之大阿房宮)” on a large sheet of paper.
  • Below this, He wrote out the following mantras: Tae-eul, twenty-four seasons, Jin-aek, Chil-sung, Twenty-Four Generals, Twenty-Eight Generals, True Dharma, Oon-jahng, Gae-byuk, and Yeh-go. Then, He pasted the paper on the southern wall of the room.
  • He had the disciples sit cross-legged and, standing behind them, said, “Those of you who are learned should memorize these by reading, and those who are unlearned should put your hands together and memorize these by thinking about them.”
  • Hurrying them to memorize the mantras, He said, “Time is running out.” Those who could not read the mantras were the first to recite them. They chanted loudly.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim slapped His knee and said, “Of course. The unlearned have become enlightened.”
