- 1 Sahng-jeh-nim ordered Hyung-yul, “Position yourself to My right.” Sahng-jeh-nim stood on the left, Hyung-yul stood on the right, and the soldiers fell in behind them.
- 2 Watching from a pavilion, Ho-yun cheered, “Let’s go! Let’s go!” On His horse, Sahng-jeh-nim waved to her and smiled.
- 3 Sahng-jeh-nim said to Hyung-yul, “You start first.” Hyung-yul rode out and combatted a general from the other team. Before long, Hyung-yul was knocked off his horse.
- 4 Some spirits caught him and put him in the pavilion. Sahng-jeh-nim advanced a little and waved His hand once, making the opposing generals and their horses fall and tumble on the ground.
- 5 Following Sahng-jeh-nim’s order, the spirits on His left and right rode out together. All the spirits of the other team fell like stalks of hemp.
- 6 Sahng-jeh-nim praised His team, “You are powerful.”
- 7 He continued, “When your legs hurt, it is better to keep walking rather than remaining crouched. You should undertake your work in this same way. Being daunted by a task is just a matter of a lack of guts.
- 8 If you want to accomplish something great, you should not be concerned with saving your own life. If you worry about trivial matters, you cannot achieve your goal.”
- 9 Then, all the spirits went away. Sahng-jeh-nim said to Hyung-yul, “There are also countries in heaven, and in each village of each country, there is a general.”
- 10 He continued, “I used arrowroot to heighten the generals’ energy. That is why I made the medicine cabinet.”
- Conduct This Work of Renewal Three Times
- 11 After completing this work of renewal, Sahng-jeh-nim gave Bohng-nahm an order. “Later, return to this place, plant the flags, and conduct this work of renewal three times.”
- 12 After Sahng-jeh-nim’s ascension, Bohng-nahm carried out Sahng-jeh-nim’s command by conducting this work of renewal at the same archery range.
